The research aims to identify the obstacles to utilizing scientific research for social and economic development in Yemeni universities and to propose ways to overcome these challenges. The study employs descriptive, documentary, and archival methods to analyze the phenomenon, drawing on official indicators and published research. The research focuses on several key areas, including: 1. The current state of scientific research in Yemeni universities. 2. The role of scientific research in promoting economic and social development. 3. The obstacles that hinder the application of scientific research in achieving economic and social development. 4. Strategies to overcome the barriers that prevent the effective use of scientific research in the development process. The research findings indicate several obstacles to using scientific research for sustainable and comprehensive development. These obstacles include: a lack of awareness regarding the importance of scientific research in driving economic and social progress, limited capacity to apply research results in practical settings, an emphasis on theoretical research at the expense of applied and experimental studies, and the absence of research plans at universities that focus on development-related issues. The researcher put forward a series of recommendations and proposals related to the research topic and its objectives. The aim is to tackle the various obstacles to scientific research that impede social and economic development.
